Terms of use

Last updated: 12 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and JG Media Limited (a company registered in England and Wales, company number 10882020) ("Overlandi", "we") for the Overlandi web studio, iOS app and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy policy.

1. Using Overlandi

  • You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you need your parent or guardian’s permission.
  • You sign in with Google or Apple. Keep your devices and accounts secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.
  • Overlandi is currently free to use, and nothing is sold in the app. If we introduce paid features in future, we will show the price and the terms (including how to cancel) before you buy, and those terms will apply alongside these. We may change, add or remove features; if we remove something you pay for, we'll tell you in advance.

2. Safety — please read

  • Routes are suggestions, not guarantees. Map data comes largely from OpenStreetMap and other open sources and can be wrong, out of date or incomplete. Surface grades, passability, opening hours, fuel, camping spots and phone-signal estimates are estimates.
  • You decide where it's safe and legal to go. Always follow road signs, closures, local laws, land-access rights and the actual conditions in front of you. Off-road and wild-camping rules vary by country, region and season.
  • Don't interact with the app while riding or driving. Set up your route before you set off.
  • Crash detection and SOS are aids, not an emergency service. They depend on your phone, its battery, its sensors and mobile signal, and can fail or give false alarms. Always carry a way to call the emergency services yourself.
  • The AI co-driver can be wrong. Check what it suggests before you rely on it.

3. Your content

Your plans, routes, notes and recordings stay yours. You give us permission to store, process and display them as needed to run the Service for you — including showing them to people you share them with. You confirm you have the right to upload what you upload (for example, GPX files from other sources).

Contributions to OpenStreetMap. If you link your OpenStreetMap account, surface confirmations you submit are published as OpenStreetMap edits under your OSM username and licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL), and must follow OpenStreetMap's rules — only record what you actually observed. GPS traces are published only if you opt in to that (see the Privacy policy).

4. Acceptable use

Don't:

  • break the law, or use the Service to harm, harass or track other people without their consent;
  • submit false or deliberately misleading map contributions;
  • overload, scrape, reverse-engineer or bypass the limits or security of the Service, or resell it;
  • misuse ride-group features — group locations, hazards and SOS are for the people riding together.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we apply fair-use limits (e.g. routing and AI usage).

5. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties — OpenStreetMap, map tile and routing providers, Google and Apple sign-in, AI providers (Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude) and, if you connect them, GitHub and Garmin devices. If you add your own AI API key, your use of that provider is under its terms and any charges it makes are yours. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors.

6. Availability and changes

We work to keep Overlandi running but can't promise it will always be available, error-free or work offline in every area. Keep your own copies (export GPX) of routes you depend on. We may update these terms; if a change is significant we'll let you know in the app before it applies.

7. Ending

You can stop using Overlandi and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may end or suspend the Service, or your access, with reasonable notice — or immediately for serious breaches of these terms.

8. Liability

The Service is provided "as is". Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer. Otherwise, we're not liable for losses that weren't foreseeable, for business losses, or for loss caused by following route suggestions, map data or AI output without checking conditions yourself. Subject to that, our total liability to you for all claims connected with the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £100, whichever is greater.

9. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you live in the EU or elsewhere in the UK you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of where you live and may bring claims in your local courts.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms: email jgmedia@outlook.com, or see our support page.
